HCMC – The World Logistics Passport Program, founded in Dubai to facilitate global commerce, has officially added Vietnam to its list of logistics and trade centers of the region (or the Hub).
The signing ceremony and kick-off forum of the World Logistic Passport Program (WLP) were held on March 1 with the participation of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association and the Embassies of the United Arab Emirates States (UAE).
WLP added nine enterprises to its list of partners worldwide at this event and set a target of increasing the number of partners in the coming time.
The nine enterprises comprised VietJet Aviation JSC, Saigon Premier Container Terminal, Saigon Port JSC, Gemadept Corporation, Lotus Port, Sotrans Logistics and three others.
According to the Vietnam Logistics Business Association, implementing the WLP Program will facilitate trade and logistics activities between Vietnam and other member countries, especially with those in the markets of Africa and Latin America.
The UAE is Vietnam’s largest trade partner in the Middle East, with approximately US$8 billion in bilateral trade last year. With WLP and other additional projects, the bilateral trading activities of the two countries will be improved significantly, according to Alsuwaidi, director of Hubs and Global Partners of WLP.
With the participation of Vietnam, the WLP currently has 29 hubs and partners worldwide, aiming to decrease costs, save time, eliminate trade obstacles, and open multimodal commerce for its partners.
