HCMC – The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong broke ground on a project to expand and upgrade the seven-kilometer Prenn Pass this morning, February 10, the local media reported.

When the VND550-billion project is completed, the pass will be 15.5 meters wide, double the current width, and have four lanes.

A bridge on the pass will be expanded from 12 to 15 meters in width, while a new bridge will be built with a width of 15.5 meters and a length of 120 meters.

There will be four rest stops and two observation points along the Prenn Pass. The whole project is funded by the local budget and expected to be completed by December 31 this year.

The Traffic Project Management Board of Lam Dong Province is the project owner, while the consortium of Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment JSC and Deo Ca Construction JSC is the contractor.

Local authorities planned to change the land use of over 10 hectares of natural forest with 1,160 pines and relocate 1,040 prunus cerasoides trees to implement the project.

The Prenn Pass, the major road connecting Dalat to multiple provinces in the southeastern region, has been known for its dangerous curves and traffic congestion during peak seasons.
