HCMC – Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, during his official visit to Spain, called for Spanish companies to step up investment in infrastructure, renewable energy, transportation and tourism in Vietnam.
Deputy PM Quang suggested this during a meeting with Spanish Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Reyes Maroto in the Spanish capital of Madrid on March 2, the local media reported.
At the meeting, both sides agreed to effectively implement the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, aiming to raise bilateral trade to US$5 billion in the coming years.
The Spanish minister said many Spanish businesses expressed their interest in Vietnam’s infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, and that Spain would create optimal conditions for Vietnamese agro and aquatic products to enter the Spanish market.
The Spanish official said Spain would work with EU member nations to lift the IUU yellow card earlier imposed on Vietnam’s seafood.
The two sides will also boost their cooperation in tourism, including joining each other’s tourism promotion events and considering a plan to launch direct air services linking Vietnam and Spain.
After the meeting, the Vietnamese deputy PM and the Spanish minister co-chaired a seminar with the participation of many businesses in the two nations.
