HCMC – Visitors from all nations and territories can now apply for e-visa as from August 15.
According to a Government resolution issued by August 14, foreigners can use e-visa for both entry and exit through 13 local airports, including Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Danang, Cat Bi, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Phu Bai, Van Don, Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Phu Cat, and Lien Khuong.
The reach of e-visa extends to 16 land border gates: Tay Trang in Dien Bien Province, Mong Cai in Quang Ninh Province, Huu Nghi in Lang Son Province, Lao Cai Province, Na Meo in Thanh Hoa Province, Nam Can in Nghe An Province, Cau Treo in Ha Tinh Province, Chao Lo in Quang Binh Province, La Hay and Lao Bao in Quang Tri Province, Bo Y in Kon Tum Province, Moc Bai and Xa Mat in Tay Ninh Province, Tinh Bien and Vinh Xuong in An Giang Province, and Ha Tien in Kien Giang Province.
Furthermore, 13 seaports are equipped to process e-visas, encompassing Hon Gai and Cam Pha in Quang Ninh Province, Haiphong City, Nghi Son in Thanh Hoa Province, Vung An in Ha Tinh, Chan May in Thua Thien-Hue Province, Danang City, Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh Province, Dung Quat in Quang Ngai Province, Vung Tau in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, HCMC, and Duong Dong in Kien Giang Province.
Simultaneously, the Government has approved an extension of temporary residence for citizens from 13 countries who are entitled to Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption, increasing the duration from 15 to 45 days.
Individuals from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, North Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus will now be permitted a 45-day stay in Vietnam from the date of entry, regardless of visa type or purpose.
Previously, the National Assembly had passed an amendment extending the temporary residence duration for visa-free visitors to 45 days, surpassing the stipulated duration in the prevailing law.
In June, the National Assembly approved amendments to the Law on Immigration of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. These revisions included an extension of e-visa validity from 30 to 90 days.
The expanded and extended e-visa provisions are anticipated to provide a boost in attracting tourists, investments, business collaborations, and scientific research endeavors.
Prior to the implementation of this resolution, Vietnam had granted one-month single-entry e-visas to visitors from 80 countries and territories.
