VIENTIANE — Vietjet and Lao Airlines, the national airline of Laos, have become comprehensive partners in passenger and cargo transportation, following a comprehensive partnership agreement inked on Monday.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Việt Nam’s National Assembly Chairman, Vương Đình Huệ, Laos National Assembly Vice Chairwoman, Sounthone Xayachak, and leaders from the two countries’ ministries and authorities.
This event marked a significant milestone not only for the two airline companies but also for Việt Nam and Laos, two neighbouring countries with a close and cooperative relationship.
On the same day, Vietjet also announced a new route opening between Vientiane and HCM City.
Starting from February 2024. the new route is expected to operate four weekly return flights, with a flight time of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes per leg, Vietjet said in a statement.
Vientiane is the capital and largest city, as well as the political and economic centre of Laos. It is located on the banks of the Mekong River, offering the picturesque and ancient beauty of the Indochinese region. The capital of Laos attracts tourists with renowned architectural landmarks, temples, pagodas, local festivals, and unique cuisine.
Meanwhile, HCM City is Việt Nam’s and the region’s prominent economic, cultural, and tourist centre. It boasts unique cultural features, a vibrant modern lifestyle, while offering seamless connectivity to a plethora of destinations within Việt Nam and internationally.
“The new route is expected to contribute to the promotion of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries, creating further fruitful outcomes in the longstanding cooperative relationship between Việt Nam and Laos,” Vietjet said.
It not only connects HCM City with the capital city Vientiane and other localities in Laos but also extends further with Vietjet’s extensive flight network covering Việt Nam, Australia, mainland China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India, and Kazakhstan, the airline added. — VNS
