HCMC – The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has again delayed issuing a conclusion on the probe into anti-dumping duty evasion on plywood imports from Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The investigation result is slated for July 14.
This is the eighth time the U.S. authority has extended the deadline for issuing its final conclusion on anti-dumping tax evasion and anti-subsidy tax investigations into plywood imports from Vietnam.
On July 25 last year, the DOC released its preliminary conclusion, stating that anti-dumping and countervailing duties would be imposed on plywood imports from Vietnam if rotary veneer imported from China had been used.
If Vietnamese exporters are found committing those acts, the U.S. will levy import tariffs of 238.95% and anti-subsidy duties from 22.98% to 194.9% on Vietnamese plywood.
During the investigation, Vietnamese firms were allowed to prove they had not used Chinese materials to avoid the imposition of U.S. duties.
