Twenty renewable energy projects approved for commercial operation

HCMC – Only 20 solar and wind power projects in the transitional phase with a combined capacity of 1,170 MW had got approved for commercial operation as of the end of August this year.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has submitted a report to the Government detailing the negotiations regarding the pricing of renewable energy.

In the year to August 25, among the 85 solar and wind power projects in the transitional phase, 79 with 4,449.86 MW in capacity had submitted their documents to Vietnam Electricity Group for price negotiations and power purchase agreements.

Other six projects, totaling 284.7 MW in capacity, have yet to submit negotiation documents, despite repeated reminders.

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) successfully concluded price talks with 68 projects, encompassing a total capacity of 3,633.26 MW.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has provisionally approved prices for 58 of these projects, with 20 of them having received Commercial Operation Date (COD) acceptance. This signifies that these 20 projects have met all the criteria for commercial operation and can be connected to the national grid.

In terms of other legal procedures, operating permits have been granted for 29 projects, encompassing either the entire facility or specific portions of it.

Furthermore, 11 projects are currently under review, while 45 projects have yet to submit their documents for operating permits.
