HCMC – The HCMC River Festival officially kicked off this morning, August 4, at the Thu Ngu Flagpole, Bach Dang Wharf, District 1, with the aim of boosting local tourism and showcasing HCMC as a city of rivers and rich culture.
The very first river festival in HCMC will take place from now until August 6, with a wide range of cultural and entertainment activities at Saigon Cruise Port, Bach Dang Wharf Park, Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal area, and Binh Dong Wharf.
The highlight of the festival is the art program titled “Saigon River – A Witness to History,” with the participation of over 700 artists portraying the historical development of Gia Dinh-Saigon-HCMC over the past decades.
The festival features captivating art programs like a river parade, fireworks display, water puppetry performances, and traditional art showcases to promote cultural heritage.
At the opening ceremony this morning, Phan Van Mai, chairman of HCMC People’s Committee, said: “Any residents and tourists joining the festival will have a chance to experience various waterway tourism programs, enjoy the lively atmosphere at various places, and buy unique local agricultural products and specialties.
This festival is one of the major tourism events in HCMC this year, aiming to provide a valuable platform for travel and accommodation businesses to showcase their tourism products and services, as well as promote the cultural and historical values of the city.
