HCMC – The Malta-flagged passenger cruise ship Mein Schiff 5 arrived in Halong Bay in Quang Ninh Province today, March 6, taking close to 2,000 European visitors, with most of them German, to the World Heritage-listed bay.
The tourists are expected to visit popular destinations in Quang Ninh such as Halong Bay and Quang Ninh Museum, and take a city tour to learn about local culture and enjoy local food.
The cruise ship was scheduled to leave Halong for Hong Kong this evening, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
This is the second international cruise ship and the largest group of cruise guests to visit Quang Ninh in the year to date.
On January 22 this year, or the first day of the 2023 lunar year, Halong City welcomed Silver Spirit, a cruise ship with 500 international guests on board.
At least four international cruise ships are expected to carry tourists to Halong this month.
During the first two months of the year, Quang Ninh attracted 3.35 million tourists, up twofold against the same period last year, with international tourists accounting for 157,000. The northern province booked over VND6.5 trillion in tourism revenue in January-February.
This year, the province looks to attract 15 million tourists, including two million from abroad, and make VND32.4 trillion in tourism revenue.
