HCMC – Finnish technology company Nokia has announced the first 10G fiber broadband deployment in Vietnam with its local partner Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT).
The rollout will connect 10,000 homes and businesses in eight largest provinces and cities, providing local customers with a connection speed of up to 10 gigabits per second.
As part of the partnership, Nokia will provide fiber access nodes for VNPT’s exchanges and fiber modems provided to its users.
“VNPT will work with Nokia to deploy cloud-based network management systems and enhance customer experiences through digital transformation solutions,” said Dang Anh Son, CEO at VNPT Net Corporation.
According to the Vietnam Telecom operators report by Global Data, VNPT took the lead with 39.5% of the domestic market in 2022.
In 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the National Digital Transformation Program to cover 80% of households and 100% of communes nationwide with fiber internet infrastructure by 2025.
