HCMC – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue welcomed the first direct flight from South Korea’s Seoul on August 1.
The Airbus A321 aircraft with 151 passengers on board landed at Phu Bai International Airport in the province as part of a two-way chartered air service operated by the local budget carrier Vietjet Air.
Local authorities plan to offer a four-day trip with various tourist attractions and experiences tailor-made for the South Korean visitors to explore the rich traditional culture of the local area.
On the same day, a delegation led by Nguyen Thanh Binh, vice chairman of Thua Thien-Hue, and other passengers headed to South Korea on the return flight. The Vietnamese officials will participate in a range of tourism promotion activities in Seoul and Goechang.
This is the first direct service between Phu Bai International Airport and Incheon International Airport in the Seoul Capital Area, a metropolitan region that includes the capital of Seoul and its neighboring provinces of Incheon and Gyeonggi. The airport is 49 kilometers from Seoul.
Vietjet previously inaugurated a direct service from Thua Thien-Hue to Kunming City in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan.
