HCMC – Heineken Vietnam has published its 2022 Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s progress in achieving its goals of “Brewing a Better Vietnam” and underscoring its continued efforts towards sustainability.
The report said that Heineken created job opportunities for 246,000 workers throughout its value chain and took significant strides in sustainability last year.
As part of its Path to Zero Impact, Heineken Vietnam successfully transitioned its sixth and final brewery to thermal energy sourced from biomass. This means that all beers produced by Heineken Vietnam are now brewed using renewable thermal energy.
The company procured Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) to cover its entire electricity demand and initiated a multi-year partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Vietnam to safeguard watersheds.
Through an investment of VND30 billion in reforestation and water management initiatives, Heineken Vietnam and its partners are actively working towards replenishing three billion liters of water annually, with the aim of achieving a water balance by 2025.
In 2022, Heineken Vietnam also made significant progress on its Path to an Inclusive, Fair, and Equitable World, with three out of its six factories being operated by women.
The year 2022 marked steady advancements for Heineken Vietnam in its pursuit of its 2025 Sustainability Ambitions, which include 100% renewable energy, 100% water balance, and zero waste to landfill.
The company’s commitment to sustainability was acknowledged by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), which ranked Heineken as the second most sustainable company in the Vietnamese manufacturing sector last year.
Alexander Koch, managing director of Heineken Vietnam, said that the company’s contribution to Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2022 reached an estimated 1.04%, the highest recorded since Heineken began tracking this figure in its inaugural Sustainability Report nine years ago.
