HCMC – A comprehensive rehabilitation plan is underway for the 830-meter stretch along the Saigon River on the side of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, involving the introduction of landscaping elements such as a ferris wheel and a pedestrian bridge.

The HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture has sent the city People’s Committee this plan for enhancing the beauty of the area spanning from Ba Son Bridge to the Saigon River Tunnel area in Thu Duc City.

The scheme entails planting floating vegetation in partially submerged zones and incorporating ornamental structures atop the Saigon River Tunnel.

The area in front of Thu Thiem Church will be adorned with LED displays, while bamboo will be cultivated in various locations to create green walls along the riverbank.

The project is expected to be completed by 2024.

This area was originally designated as a riverside park square within the Thu Thiem New Urban Area. The location is adjacent to Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1, separated by the Saigon River.

Many parts of the area remain underdeveloped.
