Free motorbike repair for flood victims
Hoa Khanh Nam Ward in Lien Chieu District, Danang City, was severely flooded after the recent four-day torrential rain. Many local residents’ assets, including hundreds of motorcycles, were submerged in the floodwater. On October 16, the 22 members of the SOS team, who are students of the Dong A University in Danang, came to the rescue.
At 6 a.m., the SOS team members gathered at the front yard of a local resident’s house on Me Suot Street and began to repair about 120 motorbikes and scooters, which failed to function because of being submerged in the floodwater, until late in the afternoon. Many motorbikes could function after the gasoline, or oil, or spark plugs were replaced, but some had to be fixed with several new parts, all free of charge. The costs for new parts, gasoline and oil were earmarked from the funds raised by the school’s youth union and the SOS team.
A representative of the Dong A University told vnexpress.net that the SOS team was established in 2017 to help the school’s students in need, adding that they would move to other flood-hit areas of the city to repair motorbikes for local residents.
A weird phenomenon of seawater in Ha Tinh
On October 18, people crossing Cua Nhuong Bridge linking Cam Nhuong and Cam Linh communes in Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh Province, were surprised at a weird natural phenomenon: the water in the wide estuary under the long bridge was divided into two separate parts, of which one side was muddy and the other side was almost clear.
Nguyen Trong, a young man living in Cam Xuyen District, told dantri.com.vn that he saw the weird scene when crossing Cua Nhuong Bridge on that day, so he stopped on the bridge to take some photos and video clips. He added that the natural phenomenon was too eye-catching to be missed by all passers-by.
Some locals say this rare natural scene happens only after many days of raining cats and dogs. Nguyen Nhu Hung, chairman of Cam Linh Commune, said such a weird phenomenon occurs when the troubled floodwater from the river meets the strong current of clear seawater at the estuary and forms two separate colors of water.
