HCMC – The GSM Joint Stock Company, the first taxi service supplier to use electric cars in Vietnam, officially provided its service in Hue yesterday, May 24, according to local media.

This is part of the firm’s plan to provide the e-taxi service in at least 15 provinces and cities in 2023 after its launch in HCMC and Hanoi.

The GSM will operate 400 VF e34 cars in Hue, which are all from VinFast, a member of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup.

Users who book a ride through the app will receive a 50% discount on the service costs, up to a maximum of VND40,000 per trip. This promotion is applicable from May 24 to June 14.

Nguyen Van Thanh, general director of GMS, said that the GMS would focus on developing e-taxi services in tourism-friendly cities and strive to turn the Xanh SM taxi into a green symbol on the tourism map of Vietnam.

Around 1,200 Xanh SM Taxis of GMS have served passengers on over 300,000 trips after one month of operation in HCMC and Hanoi. The company’s app also saw over 800,000 downloads.
