HCMC – Long Thanh District of Dong Nai Province today, February 9, broke ground on the first resettlement area for families affected by the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway project.
When in place, the 30-hectare resettlement area in Long Duc Commune will accommodate nearly 3,400 people of some 843 households, the local media reported.
The district will build one more resettlement area in Long Phuoc Commune to resettle affected families in the coming months.
Bien Hoa City, also of Dong Nai Province, is conducting procedures to develop two resettlement areas in Tam Phuoc and Phuoc Tan wards for households affected by the expressway project.
The first phase of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway project, which will link Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, has a total length of 54 kilometers, with over 34 kilometers running across Dong Nai. To execute the project, Dong Nai needs some 400 hectares of land in Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh District. More than 2,000 households will be affected by the project.
