HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to review the licenses of domestic airlines operating commercial flights, the local media reported.
The instructions, signed by Deputy Minister of Transport Le Thanh Tuan, authorized CAAV to propose measures for dealing with airlines that no longer meet the required conditions.
There are currently six domestic carriers, namely Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Vasco and Vietravel Airlines.
Additionally, general aviation service providers include Hai Au, Hanh Tinh Xanh and Bay Viet, among others.
The airlines have a total of 249 aircraft, serving flights at 22 airports across the country, besides multiple international air services.
In addition to operating licenses, local firms seeking to serve commercial air services must meet a set of standards, such as operational procedures, management structure and capital capacity.
Particularly, air carriers are required to have at least three aircraft, whereas general aviation service providers just need one.
The minimum amount of capital required for a firm to establish and operate general aviation services is VND100 billion.
