HCMC – Esteban Lazo Hernandez, the President of the Cuban National Assembly, has commenced his five-day official visit to Vietnam, starting September 24.

The visit comes in response to an invitation extended by Vietnamese Party and State leaders.

During the visit, Lazo Hernandez is expected to meet with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The visit will also involve various engagements in central provinces like Quang Binh and Quang Tri, including flower offerings at Fidel Castro’s statue, visits to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital, and meetings with local authorities in Quang Binh Province.

Notably, one of the focal points of the visit is a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s September 1973 visit to the liberated zone of southern Vietnam.

The ceremony, organized by the Quang Tri Province People’s Committee in conjunction with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, Sports-Tourism, and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, is slated for September 26.
