HCMC – Binh Dinh Province in the south-central region of Vietnam is planning to undertake an upgrade and expansion of the navigational channel for Quy Nhon Port.
The project is estimated to cost around VND700 billion and aims to widen the channel to a length of seven kilometers, a width of 140 meters, and a depth of 13 meters.
Once completed, the port will have the capacity to accommodate vessels weighing up to 50,000 deadweight tons, said the Maritime Project Management Board under the Ministry of Transport.
The board is currently conducting an environmental impact assessment and preparing bidding documents in order to commence the project later this year.
Currently, Quy Nhon Port can handle 30,000 tons of cargo at full load and 50,000 tons at non-full load capacity.
