THỪA THIÊN HUẾ — The central provincial People’s Committee Thừa Thiên Huế, in co-operation with the Việt Nam Railway Corporation, plans to open a tourism train route between Đà Nẵng and Huế cities to provide convenient service for tourists exploring heritage sites in central Việt Nam.
The province said the train trip will include 12 stations in a total distance of 102km between the two cities, allowing visitors to get closer to downtown areas and destinations.
Tourists can take the train and stop at rural and lagoon destinations such as Hương Thủy, Cầu Hai, Truồi, Thừa Lưu and Lăng Cô in Huế during the railway adventure.
The trip will take from three to four hours and pass through Phú Gia, Phước Tượng and Hải Vân tunnels.
The Việt Nam Railway Corporation said it had already operated four trans-Việt Nam trains that stop at Huế and Đà Nẵng stations, and a newly high-quality Hà Nội-Đà Nẵng train, in boosting tour links from Hà Nội to the world heritage centres in Đà Nẵng, Huế, Hội An ancient town and Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary.
A daily bus route between the two cities was operated from 2020 with 75 24-seat buses traveling the distance in two hours and 30 minutes.
Last year, the Indochina Rail Tourist Service Company proposed a restoration plan for the operation of steam trains travelling between Đà Nẵng and Huế.
Đà Nẵng plans to move its railway station from the city centre to Liên Chiểu District.
In the first 10 months of 2023, Huế hosted 2.4 million tourists including 700,000 foreigners, while Đà Nẵng welcomed 5.8 million visitors with 1.6 international arrivals. VNS
