HCMC – The Vietnamese railway sector will start selling tickets for the 2024 Lunar New Year to groups from October 15 and individuals from October 20.
Thai Van Truyen, general director of Saigon Railway Transport JSC, said that the train services for the holiday will run from January 26 to February 26, or within two weeks prior to and after the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
The sector will operate 22 pairs of trains on the Saigon-Hanoi route and short-distance routes to various cities and provinces.
Saigon Railway Transport JSC will operate extra trains from HCMC to popular tourist destinations like Hue, Danang, Quang Ngai and Nha Trang to cater to the higher travel demand during Tet.
The railway sector expects to make over 200,000 tickets available for the upcoming Tet, equivalent to nearly 400 trips. Due to rising fuel prices and input costs, ticket prices might increase by 1% to 4% compared to last year.
On the HCMC-Hanoi route, the highest price will be VND2.9 million per ticket while the lowest price is VND1.9 million.
Promotional offers will also be available, including a 3% discount for passengers purchasing tickets for trains departing from Saigon railway station starting two days ahead of Tet, a ticket price reduction ranging from 2% to 8% for groups of 10 or more, and a 20% reduction in ticket prices for students.
Tickets can be purchased through the websites at dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn, and giare.vetau.vn, or at railway stations, authorized ticket agents, and digital wallets such as MoMo and Vimo, or through the railway call center.
