HCMC – The north-central province of Ha Tinh has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport, seeking to reclassify a 120-kilometer road running along its coastline as a national highway to better manage the increasing traffic and maintenance demands.
Local authorities emphasized that the lengthy Provincial Road 547, also known as the Ha Tinh coastal road, combined with the impact of weather conditions, results in substantial annual maintenance and repair expenses, which strain the province’s limited budget.
Moreover, the deterioration and damage to certain technical infrastructure components of the road pose safety and operational concerns.
To address these challenges, the provincial government suggested reclassifying the Ha Tinh coastal road as a national highway, with administrative and maintenance responsibilities entrusted to the Ha Tinh Department of Transport.
The road starts from Cua Hoi Bridge in Nghi Xuan District and ends at an intersection with National Highway 12C in Ky Anh Township.
This route connects the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh, serving as a crucial link for local transportation needs. The road also facilitates socioeconomic growth, connecting various international ports such as Vissai, Xuan Hoi, Thach Kim and Vung Ang.
Currently, projects are underway to improve several sections of the road, totaling 33 kilometers in length, in Loc Ha District, Thach Ha District, and Ky Anh Township. The remaining 87 kilometers of the road will be developed at a cost of VND2,000 billion, with funding from central and local budgets.
