HCMC – A 22-year-old man in HCMC has tested positive for monkeypox, becoming the fifth case in the city and the sixth in the country this year, the local media reported.

The patient, a resident in Ward 2 of Tan Binh District, sought a check-up at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases on October 2 due to suspected monkeypox symptoms. Subsequent test results confirmed his infection with the contagious disease.

He is under quarantine and receiving treatment at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. He is in stable condition.

The Tan Binh District Medical Center has initiated an epidemiological investigation and is compiling a list of individuals who had close contact with the patient in the 21 days leading up to the onset of the disease.

Fortunately, those who had contact with the patient remain in good health and show no signs of illness.

HCMC now accounts for five of the six reported monkeypox cases in the entire country. Residents are advised to promptly seek medical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment at a hospital or medical facility if they exhibit any symptoms suggestive of monkeypox.
