HCMC – The Australian Government has committed financial assistance to Vietnam for a study on the planning of four airports from 2021 to 2030.

The Ministry of Transport has approved this initiative, focusing on three international airports – Danang, Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc – along with the Con Dao domestic airport.

The project is part of the technical assistance program funded by the Australian Government for the transportation sector spanning from 2017 to 2021.

Australia is expected to provide AUD713,000 (US$450,000) in official development assistance (ODA), with the project duration slated until the end of June next year.

The primary objective of the project is to review and assess the planning schemes for Cam Ranh, Danang and Phu Quoc international airports for the period from 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The project will also involve proposing initiatives for local consultants to complete the planning for Con Dao airport and conducting technical seminars on capacity building for relevant stakeholders.
