More land plots proposed for social housing development in HCMC

HCMC – The HCMC Department of Construction has put forth a proposal to include an additional 26 land plots within the city for the development of social housing for low-income individuals and industrial workers. These developments are part of the HCMC Housing Development Plan for 2021 to 2025.

Under this proposal, 26 land plots, totaling nearly 550 hectares, have been integrated into the city’s housing development plan.

Authorities from Thu Duc City and various districts have identified 13 land plots for this initiative. Notably, five of these plots align with the city’s five-year housing development plan in terms of detailed planning and technical and social infrastructure connectivity.

The department has also assessed and recommended 21 additional locations suitable for constructing social housing projects and worker accommodations.

This includes four land plots in districts 4, 8, Binh Thanh and Tan Binh, covering nearly 11 hectares. Six land plots, spanning 15 hectares, are located in districts 7, 12 and Binh Tan. Furthermore, districts such as Binh Chanh, Nha Be and Cu Chi will allocate 10 land plots totaling 188 hectares for social housing development.

Thu Duc City is also contributing to this initiative, offering six land plots encompassing more than 334 hectares as part of the city’s Housing Development Plan.

Simultaneously, the department has suggested an increase in budgets for social housing projects, raising the allocation from VND1.2 trillion to nearly VND3.8 trillion.

The city aims to construct 93,000 social homes as part of the housing development program from 2021 to 2030.
