HCMC reports high National Day holiday tourism revenue

HCMC – Millions of visitors, both local and international, flocked to tourist sites and amusement parks in HCMC during the September 1-4 National Day holiday, resulting in a substantial boost to the city’s revenue.

According to the HCMC Department of Tourism, the National Day holiday saw 960,000 visitors at various tourist sites within the city, a 4.3% increase compared to the previous year.

Among these visitors, an estimated 162,000 individuals utilized accommodation services, up by a significant 24.6% year-on-year. The occupancy rates of hotel rooms reached around 80%, a 6.7% increase from the previous year.

The influx of domestic visitors during the four-day period exceeded that of the year before by 15%, with a total of 420,000 visitors exploring the city. Moreover, HCMC also experienced a notable surge of over 14.5% in international visitors compared to the previous year, totaling 37,600 arrivals.

Popular tourist destinations in the city, including Suoi Tien Theme Park, Dam Sen Water Park, and the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, were crowded with visitors, reported the local media.

Specifically, Suoi Tien Theme Park welcomed nearly 25,000 guests on September 2 alone, and the cumulative number of visitors to the amusement park over the past four days is estimated to have reached around 70,000.

Other entertainment venues in downtown HCMC, such as Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Independence Palace, witnessed long lines of people eagerly awaiting the opportunity to explore these iconic sites.

With such a surge in visitor numbers, the tourism sector is projected to contribute around VND2,890 billion in revenue to the city, rising 5.5% from the previous year.

During the holiday period, HCMC stood out as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country, featuring a range of standout sporting and cultural events, including firework displays, hot-air balloon performances, and guided tours of the city hall.

After opening its doors for public viewing, the City Hall, which boasts a history of over 110 years, drew the attention of 65 travel groups with 1,614 guests, including diplomatic groups, overseas students in HCMC, international visitors, Vietnamese expatriates, and local residents.
