HCMC – Vietnam saw 53 fatalities and 67 injuries during the first three days of the September 1-4 National Day holiday, according to the Traffic Police Department at the Ministry of Public Security.
From September 1 to 3, there were a total of 89 traffic accidents nationwide, 32 more incidents than in the same period in the previous year. This surge resulted in 19 additional fatalities and 21 more injuries over the same period last year.
September 3 saw an alarming spike, with 32 accidents causing 20 fatalities and 26 injuries. This particular date registered 12 more accidents, seven additional fatalities, and 12 more injuries against the corresponding period in 2022.
On the same date, the traffic police handled 8,920 cases of traffic violations, resulting in fines that exceeded VND19 billion. Over 2,000 driver’s licenses were revoked, and 139 cars, 3,600 motorcycles, and 32 other vehicles were temporarily seized.
More than 2,866 drivers were fined for driving under the influence of alcohol, with seven cases involving driving under the influence of drugs. There were 35 cases linked to overloading, and an additional 1,757 violations pertained to speeding.
