HCMC – AB InBev, a global brewing company, has launched a series of initiatives to promote green supply chain practices in celebration of World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8).

More than 200 employees of the company participated in a hand printing initiative aimed at reducing single-use plastic, as well as a workshop focused on finding solutions to plastic pollution in production.

The participants also joined in activities such as tree planting, plastic waste collection and sorting in the company’s breweries. These programs aimed to raise awareness among AB InBev employees about the importance of reducing single-use plastic.

AB InBev has embraced various nature-based solutions in response to the theme of World Oceans Day 2023, “Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing.” The company is committed to collaborating with local communities and relevant organizations to build resilience and improve access to safe and clean water.

In Germany, Corona, one of AB InBev’s beer brands, introduced an innovative recycled plastic crate for its returnable beer bottles, making it the first plastic-free international beer brand.

The crate, made with over 90% recycled material, including maritime plastic waste such as old nets and lines, features a blue-and-white design inspired by the ocean. The product has received several packaging awards in categories such as new material, sustainability, and design, including the PAC Global Award.
