HCMC – Vietnam and Australia have seen a steady improvement of cooperation in agriculture and education, heard a trade promotion seminar held in the central coastal city of Danang this morning, March 31.
Last year, bilateral farm trade between Vietnam and Australia reached AU$6 billion, showed data provided at the seminar. Meanwhile, Vietnam was Australia’s fifth largest international education market.
The seminar, titled “Vietnam – Australia unlocking opportunities in education and agrifood”, is part of a series of events to be held by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) in collaboration with businesses and the authorities of Hanoi, Hue and Danang cities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.
The event featured over 400 businesses, organizations, associations and agencies of the two countries.
At the seminar, 22 leading Australian universities and academic educational organizations introduced their expertise in education and training to potential Vietnamese partners, bringing opportunities for education cooperation between organizations and opening a new trade partnership of the two countries.
Around 27,000 Vietnamese are now studying in Australia and over 8,000 Vietnamese citizens are doing Australian degrees in Vietnam.
In the agrifood sector, the Australian delegation, including 19 businesses, explored business opportunities in Vietnam and, at the same time, recommended quality products which could be exported to Vietnam.
