HCMC – Charges have been filed against 506 suspects for their alleged involvement in irregularities at multiple auto registration and inspection centers in the country, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said at a Government press conference yesterday, March 28.
The police in 32 provinces and cities have started legal proceedings against 64 cases over auto testing irregularities, according to Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson for the MPS.
“The suspects were accused of infringing the regulations in auto registration and inspection activities for huge personal gains,” he said.
According to investigation results, the suspects colluded with 74 vehicle repair businesses in 18 provinces and cities from 2018 to 2022 to overlook technical failures or falsify documents for many vehicles. Among the nearly 40,000 vehicles inspected, many failed to meet roadworthiness standards.
Regarding the ongoing congestion at many auto testing centers, especially in Hanoi and HCMC, officials from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security have been sent to these centers to solve the problem.
