HCMC – The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong had cleared over 97 hectares among 118 hectares of illegally-built greenhouses and net houses by January 31, reaching 82.69% of the target, according to the Lam Dong People’s Committee.
The clearance took place in Dalat City, and Don Duong, Di Linh and Dam Rong districts.
However, Lac Duong District has just cleared out 4.6 hectares, or 19% of the target, while Duc Trong District completed clearing 2.83 hectares or 80% of the required land area.
Lac Duong District has been required to meet the deadline and send a report to the Lam Dong People’s Committee before February 10.
Previously, Lam Dong planned to clear out over 118 hectares of illegal greenhouses, with nearly 74 hectares in Dalat, 24.4 hectares in Lac Duong and 14.7 hectares in Don Duong, as the ratios of greenhouse areas remained high, affecting the environment and tourism development.
The province aimed to reduce some 20% of its greenhouse area by 2025 and 100% by 2030 in the downtown areas of Dalat City and surrounding districts.
This plan required an estimated cost of over VND178 billion, including VND3.5 billion from the State Budget and over VND172.6 billion from organizations and individuals.
