HCMC – Energy Vietnam Investment JSC has purchased more than 6.8 million SJE shares of Song Da No.11 JSC, making the former the latter’s major shareholder starting from January 16 this year.
After the transactions were done, Energy Vietnam’s ownership in SJE rose from 0% to 31.2%.
In related news, Hoang Thi Lan, the mother of Doan Hai Trung, a member of the SJE Supervisory Board, registered to offload over one million SJE shares, or a 4.95 % stake in the firm. The deals were scheduled between January 19 and February 16.
During the given period, Doan Hai Trung registered to offload 900,000 SJE shares, equivalent to a 4.1% stake in the company.
SJE has its charter capital of nearly VND219 billion. Besides Energy Vietnam, Song Da Corporation-JSC is another major shareholder of SJE, holding more than 3.72 million SJE shares, equivalent to a 16.89% stake in the latter as of December 31 last year.
SJE has announced February 8 as the record date to finalize the list of shareholders to attend its 2023 general meeting, which is scheduled to take place in March in Hanoi.
As for its business performance, SJE saw its consolidated revenue in 2022 reaching over VND907 billion, rising nearly 28% year-on-year, while its after-tax profit inched up over 44% against the same period last year at around VND81 billion.
On the local stock market, SJE in late July last year set its record high at VND40,400 since its debut on December 14, 2006. SJE then reversed course to fall sharply and remained at VND23,600 at the close today, January 31.
The rebound of many bank stocks enabled the benchmark VN-Index of the HCMC market to reverse course to end higher today. With advancers outnumbering decliners by 258 to 149, the main index added 8.61 points, or 0.78%, over the session earlier at 1,111.18.
The southern bourse saw more than 748 million shares worth over VND13.6 trillion changing hands, contracting 6% in volume and remaining unchanged in value against the previous session. Shares transacted in block deals contributed more than VND1.8 trillion to the overall index.
Among the bank stocks, only EIB moved sideways. The rest closed in positive territory. STB was the best performer as it surged 4.8% and took the lead in the group by liquidity with over 25 million shares traded.
Regarding stocks in the steel sector, HPG was the most actively traded stock on the southern bourse, with a matching volume of over 28 million shares, up 1.6% day-on-day. HSG also expanded 3.7% and saw 15.75 million shares transacted.
The upbeat mood was also felt among many securities, real estate, and construction stocks such as SSI, VND, NVL and DXG.
On the Hanoi bourse, with 105 winners and 56 losers, the HNX-Index gained 1.65 points, or 0.65%, versus yesterday to close at its intraday high of 219.27. Trade on the Hanoi market slid 15% in volume and 12% in value compared to the previous session, at over 88 million shares and over VND1.3 trillion.
